Overview:

As Flare continues to grow, we need engineering teams that can deliver quickly without compromising technical quality, product usability, or long-term scalability.

As an R&D Team Leader, you will lead a full-stack team of Backend and Frontend developers responsible for designing and delivering high-quality software solutions. You will combine hands-on technical judgment with people leadership, guiding projects from ideation through delivery while creating an environment where engineers can grow and do their best work.

You will own your team’s execution, technical direction, and development. Working closely with Product Managers and other stakeholders, you will help translate business priorities into clear technical plans, remove obstacles, and make thoughtful decisions that balance immediate delivery needs with robust architecture and long-term code quality.

What you will do

Lead Delivery from Planning to Production

Lead the team through the planning, execution, and delivery of high-quality software projects. Establish realistic timelines, create clarity around priorities, and systematically identify and resolve technical obstacles that could affect delivery.

Set the Technical Direction

Drive technical decision-making while maintaining alignment with business objectives. Help the team balance speed with sound architecture, clean code, product usability, and long-term maintainability.

Build and Develop a Strong Engineering Team

Create meaningful opportunities for engineers to grow while fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and collaboration. Support the team through technical challenges and individual development needs.

Take ownership of recruitment processes, building and developing a team that can meet Flare’s current and future engineering needs.

Partner Across the Business

Establish balanced, effective partnerships with Product Managers and other stakeholders. Bring technical context into product discussions, communicate trade-offs clearly, and ensure the team remains aligned on priorities, scope, and expected outcomes.

Requirements

• You have 8+ years of hands-on engineering experience with web technologies and 4+ years of experience in engineering management roles.
• You bring strong backend development expertise, preferably with Node.js or Kotlin.
• You are proficient with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, React, and TypeScript.
• You have experience working with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and Agile development methodologies.
• You can manage complex technical challenges while supporting the growth and development of individual team members.
• You are passionate about nurturing talent, creating growth opportunities, and building a culture of technical excellence.
• You are a clear communicator who can facilitate effective collaboration between technical teams, Product Managers, and other stakeholders.
• You care deeply about clean code, product usability, and robust, maintainable architectures.
• You hold a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
