Business Development Director Digital Manufacturing: At NNIT we have a unique opportunity to take on a new role that marries both Business Development and Project Delivery. The Business Development Director will report into the VP of Smart Manufacturing and play a key leadership role in shaping and growing the organization going forward. The role will have a dual focus on both Business Development and Project Delivery. The first area of focus will be to drive business development and growth within the life sciences industry across Europe. The second area of focus will be contributing to the delivery of digital transformation and associated projects for our life sciences customers. Your role will blend the strategic and the tactical, identifying and closing opportunities and acting as trusted advisor and consultant in the delivery of transformational projects for the client. Key Responsibilities: Business Development: Actively drive and expand NNIT’s Digital Manufacturing IT OT business across all domains, in close collaboration with Sales and Delivery. Identify key stakeholders, generate leads, and cultivate opportunities with both existing and new life sciences clients. Collect and analyse market and customer insights to inform business strategy, service development, and go-to-market activities. Structure, improve, and harmonize the Digital Manufacturing service catalogue, including internal delivery standards and external marketing content. Create compelling storytelling and go-to-market messaging that highlights NNIT’s value proposition, in collaboration with domain experts and senior consultants. Participate in conferences, networking, and industry events to promote NNIT’s capabilities and expand the company’s professional network. Consultancy Delivery: Deliver senior-level consulting engagements up to 50% such as digital transformation strategy, program and project management, or enterprise architecture within the Digital Manufacturing space. Collaborate with domain experts and technical teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, value-driven Digital Manufacturing solutions. Act as a trusted advisor to clients on their digitalization journey—bridging business objectives, technology priorities, and regulatory expectations. Support proposal development, statements of work, and early sales process stages with strategic and delivery insights. The preferred candidate profile: NNIT is looking for the following profile: Essential requirements: A minimum of a Bachelors level qualification in a relevant engineering, technical or business discipline. A passion for business development allied to a personality profile and competency skillset aligned to business development activities including a “hunting” mentality, strategic sales skills, resilience, first class communication skills and exceptional stakeholder management skills. Significant experience in a commercial, project management, technical lead role or similar within the Smart Factory consulting sector. Client side experience will be considered as a suitable supplement for consulting experience. A mixture of both would be a strong addition to your profile. A deep understanding of IT solutions within Digital Manufacturing for the Life Sciences industry including exposure to and understanding of technologies such as MES, DCS, Data Historian, Databases etc. Project/Program Management experience of the delivery of a range of Digital Manufacturing projects of all levels of complexity. Exceptional communication skills across all communications media and platforms and a strong level of confidence and execution when communicating to executive and leadership level stakeholders. Preferred but not essential requirements: A Masters level qualification in a relevant engineering, technical or business discipline. Client side manufacturing “shop floor” experience in a senior technical or project management role where internal and external. Demonstrated success in business development and client engagement, including lead generation, presales, RFP response, and revenue growth activities. Consulting industry experience and a deep understanding of building and selling technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Fluent German language skills.
