About the Role

As a Junior Backend Developer at ABBYY, you will join a feature team focused on building and maintaining scalable backend services that power enterprise-grade intelligent automation solutions. This entry-level role is ideal for someone with strong fundamentals who is eager to grow quickly through hands-on development, mentorship, and real-world production experience.

You will contribute to customer-facing features from day one while learning modern backend, cloud, and AI-assisted development practices.

Key Responsibilities

Feature Development & Learning

• Implement small, well-defined backend features and bug fixes under the guidance of senior engineers

• Write clean, maintainable code using C# (.NET) and/or Node.js/TypeScript

• Participate in code reviews to learn engineering best practices and gradually take on reviewer responsibilities

Platform & Cloud Exposure

• Learn containerized development using Docker and service orchestration with Kubernetes

• Gain hands-on exposure to AWS and Azure cloud services through guided tasks and pair programming

• Develop foundational knowledge of serverless and edge computing using Cloudflare Workers

Collaboration & Communication

• Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives

• Communicate progress clearly and proactively raise blockers

• Contribute to documentation, internal tools, and test coverage improvements

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience (e.g., bootcamp or self-directed learning with a portfolio)

• Basic proficiency in at least one backend language (C#, JavaScript, or TypeScript)

• Understanding of core software engineering concepts (OOP, data structures, algorithms)

• Familiarity with Git and basic command-line usage

• Strong curiosity, growth mindset, and collaborative attitude

• Professional communication skills in English

• Openness to learning and using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude)

Preferred

• Academic or personal projects involving REST APIs or backend services

• Exposure to cloud platforms, containers, Kubernetes, or serverless technologies

• Familiarity with SQL databases and HTTP fundamentals

Salary Range:

The anticipated base salary range for this position is between 8,160,000 HUF and 11,040,000 HUF. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location and relevant experience, education, certifications, and seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. There is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.
